Virginia was so beautiful
With her mane of long read hair
Her blue eyes looking up above
Her voice bouncing through the air
The summer sun entangled
Cascading down on you and her
Who could have predicted
What was to occur?

It was a summer of true love
It was a summer of pain,
It was a summer of sunshine,
It was a summer of rain.
It was a summer that we'll never forget
No matter how hard we try.
It was a summer I'll cherish
Until the day I die

Virginia was so courteous
To all the people that she met
The way she smiled at everyone
Oh, I never will forget
The way that she was colour-blind
And an amazing friend
The way that she, so tragically,
Met an early end.

It was a summer of true love
It was a summer of pain,
It was a summer of sunshine,
It was a summer of rain.
It was a summer that we'll never forget
No matter how hard we try.
It was a summer I'll cherish
Until the day I die

And in the endless summer
In which she now resides
Yes, in this endless summer
Made by you and her and I
And maybe in this paradise,
We'll stay together for eternity

And in this endless rainstorm
In our black funeral clothes
The storm is passing over
As an easterly wind blows
And maybe when I sob next to you,
Virginia will look down and see

It was a summer of true love
It was a summer of pain,
It was a summer of sunshine,
It was a summer of rain.
It was a summer that we'll never forget
No matter how hard we try.
It was a summer I'll cherish
Until the day I die

No, we will never forget her
She'll always be ours
As the summer lilies,
And the golden stars
Bloom over her last bed
I know she'll meet us soon
But for now we're stuck here
Just crying in your room
